Kasa De Amigos

Home is where the heart is, especially when your hometown is over 1,500 miles away. Hidden away in a nook sits the Kasa de Amigos, a Californian jewel inspired by the roots of its owners. One of a kind to the South Texas Coastal Bend area, their home is the ultimate grand tour of the Golden State's treasured styles.

First impressions matter, and the Kasa de Amigos makes no exceptions. As you approach the front entrance you are greeted with a natural stone landing, and hand-painted tile with a red equivalent to the Red Rock Canyon State Park. The Mediterranean inspired doorway sets the perfect climate for the home.

When you think California you think Malibu, Malibu skies, beaches, and cocktails. Upon entering the home, you are hit with a wave of Malibu blue arabesque tile from Californian owned Sonoma Tilemakers. Each tile in the niche was handmade by artisans using sustainable materials and methods in order to safeguard the tile?s and the Earth?s beauty. Along with the arabesque tiles, the Californian loved Italian influence is harmonized throughout the home with arches and limestone touches to provide a romantic vineyard atmosphere for the couple.

The romantic theme continues into the guest bathroom where rustic natural stone meets modern counter-tops and fixtures. The walls feature stones from California and its bordering neighbor, Mexico; they?re wainscoted with earthly split-face travertine and bordered with etched Sonoma stone Della Vigna. Travertine aesthetics also flow onto the shower walls through porcelain tile accompanied by a waterfall accent of Sonoma tile that ensures all showers ethereal. Delicate stream veins are found on the sleek Ella Quartz counter-top by Cambria; its marble backdrop and intricate details are a testament that white counter-tops do not have to be boring.

Like a river current we follow Ella into the kitchen and living area where our fifth stop is a traditional yet eclectic kitchen addition. Spanish influences are found in the Seville Square Wellborn cabinets which are hand-crafted and created using green methods and materials. We find more beloved Sonoma Stellar tile in the color toast paired with a charming owl cookie jar that helps recreate the perfect Californian sunset to remind them of home.

To turn up the heat up on rare Corpus Christi cold days, is a fireplace accented with rustic Tabarka Tiles that could endure even the hottest Moroccan Desert climate or just your Christmas smore?s gathering. The Mediterranean ambiance carries onto the bar that was absolutely necessary for the homeowners who love to entertain guests. Custom Tuscan metal inserts waterfall down the Shadow Charcoal colored Wellborn Cabinets. These rich luscious traditional cabinets are illuminated with Sonoma Euphoria in the color Autumn Leaves. The Sonoma tiles are created using an evolved Japanese Roku method, which allows for an iridescent effect.

Our last stop is the blissful master bath that is the perfect haven for the homeowners to get ready or unwind after a long day. Although gentle in appearance, the Cambria Ella quartz is the ultimate counter-top for a high traffic area. More durable than granite or marble, and maintenance free, Cambria offers a lifetime warranty on all their products. The space also features his and her sinks, which allow the homeowners to avoid chaotic run-ins in the morning and a vanity area that she can call her own. To continue with the Arcadian design, the shower walls are enhanced with travertine-look porcelain with the added benefit of never needing to apply a sealer.

Bringing pieces of California into the design of the home ensured that the homeowners felt completely comfortable and enamored with their space. The Kasa de Amigos was not only designed and remodeled with their specific needs in mind, but more importantly, it was sentimentally accentuated. It truly is a place that they can continue to create exciting and precious memories with their family and amigos for many holidays to come.
